Ghana’s Black Maidens ended their WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup campaign on a high after defeating hosts Côte d’Ivoire 4-0 in Yamoussoukro on Sunday.
Nana Joe Adarkwa’s side dominated the contest and finished the tournament with four wins from five matches, placing second behind Nigeria.
Seidatu Wahab opened the scoring for Ghana from the penalty spot in the 14th minute before Gloria Ameaa doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute.
The Black Maidens continued to control the game and added further goals in the second half, with Cynthia Obinsrewuo completing the 4-0 victory in the 86th minute.
Ghana’s only defeat in the tournament came against Nigeria, who beat the Maidens 4-2 at the Lycée Scientifique.
The team also participated in a post-match penalty shootout as part of player development activities during the tournament.
Ghana finished the competition with four wins from five matches, three points behind Nigeria, who maintained a perfect record throughout the tournament.
