A Russian drone struck a train at Yahodyn railway station near the Ukraine-Poland border on Sunday, shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and European security advisers had left the station. Ukraine’s state railway operator said the diplomatic train had departed ahead of schedule and suggested it was highly probable that it may have been the intended target. The train that was hit was evacuated after a warning, and no casualties were reported. Another train carrying former CIA Director David Petraeus was also at Yahodyn station when the drone struck. Earlier that day, another Russian drone reportedly hit a truck less than a mile from Polish territory, temporarily forcing the closure of the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing. The incidents have drawn renewed attention to security along Ukraine’s border with Poland, a NATO member, as Russia’s war against Ukraine continues.
