Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the suspect in the Flydubai flight incident underwent what he described as “Islamist radical indoctrination,” as investigators continue to examine the motive behind the attack.

The incident occurred aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with more than 170 people on board. According to Israeli officials, the Omani co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to take control of the aircraft.

The injured captain managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and other crew members to intervene and restrain the suspect. Additional pilots on board subsequently took control of the aircraft and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.

The suspect has been arrested and is being investigated by authorities. The United Arab Emirates has also launched an investigation into the incident, including whether it was connected to terrorist activity.

Netanyahu has said Israel has not established Iranian involvement in the incident, while the full motive and any possible affiliations of the suspect remain under investigation. Reuters reported that the suspect's alleged radicalisation claim was made by Netanyahu and that investigations were continuing.

The captain, identified as Indian national Captain Smit Machchhar, and passengers who helped subdue the suspect have been praised for their actions in preventing a potentially catastrophic outcome.
